Hippy Sister Latvian Collection

The Hippy Sister label grew out of KOSSMOS, a Latvian brand known for combining strong tailoring with wearable everyday design. Working as part of the design and production team, this collection was developed for the local Latvian women's market — clothes that needed to look polished without losing practicality, and hold their shape through the Baltic seasons.

The collection leaned into structured cuts: defined shoulders, precise waistlines, and trousers with a clean break above the shoe. Denim was the backbone — both stretch and raw selvedge — worked with metal hardware and cotton twill to create pieces with a tactile, considered quality. The goal was garments that felt like proper clothes, not trends: the kind of thing a woman reaches for again and again.

Riga's architectural character ran through the aesthetic quietly. The Art Nouveau facades along Alberta iela and Elizabetes iela suggest a way of thinking about ornament — detail in service of structure, never the other way around. That same restraint shaped the silhouettes: nothing superfluous, but nothing absent either.

Each piece went through multiple pattern revisions before reaching production. Fit on the body, not just the dress form, was the standard — the collection was sized and refined against real measurements at different stages of development to ensure the proportions translated correctly across the range.
